Clubwomen participate in Hurley Autism Walk

Members of the GFWC Grundy Woman’s Club took time to show their support for the Hurley Autism Walk on Saturday, April 27.

These children stopped by the Grundy Woman's Club table to take a break from the festivities to make their own 'calm down' bottles.

Bringing the supplies for event-goers to make their own ‘calm-down’ bottles, clubwomen assisted kids and their parents in the fun craft project. More than a dozen kids visited the table, where they were invited to drop beads, glitter, Legos, and even small dinosaurs inside small water bottles.

Children with or without sensory issues can find it soothing to flip the bottles over, watching as the objects float downward.

Clubwomen Sandy Stiltner, Bertha Street, Kim Long, and JoBeth Wampler volunteered at the event.

Last year, it raised over $2,000, which was donated to the Au-some Swim Project to sponsor free swim lessons for children with autism specifically from the Hurley community.
